Some respite.

 Valentine's was a very busy time at the shop. Despite the double shifts some days, I suppose it was worth it-- I did make enough in commissions to afford the new collector's edition of Kawabata's works. 

For now though, I have a couple of days off. I wonder how I should spend it?

I do not understand why either, but that is the norm. On March 14 (White Day), the boys who received chocolates will give gifts in return.

That seems like a very sweet custom in your school.

It tends to be just the girls, though there has been a trend towards boys doing it also.

i have not heard of the white day before. if it is in return, i was not here for valentines day so i will see it for next year.

there were the people bringing the roses through school with letters, so sometimes people would send embarassing things to friends. there was not so much sweet, because we were young.

does that mean yanagi-san is one of the people who gave things? or just some people.

You can still observe people going about their White Day. It is interesting to see men puzzle over what to get as return gifts.

I see. I suppose we all do inadvisable things in our youth.
