However, the obi idea is a good one. Genichirou would be less resistant if the change starts out gradual.

The unfortunate truth in fashion is that even the best designs can be spoiled by a model feeling uncomfortable in them. A full print or overly colored ensemble might just work against your attempts at convincing him to broaden his horizons.

That said, there are plenty of options out there that are minimalist enough that the modern twist isn’t too overt. Try finding something with patterns only at the hemlines or shoulders, perhaps.

I meant casual as in non-traditional. But yes, I do sometimes wear hakama or yukata to school as well depending on what I'm doing that day.
